My name is Amanda and I am a designer who loves the southwest. I grew up in Arizona and am now enjoying life in awesome Austin, Texas. I attended Arizona State University for my undergraduate and graduate degrees where I studied Industrial design and Interaction design respectively. My graduate thesis explored the topic of biomimicry and I continue to have a great interest in the intersection of nature and sustainable design.
What I’ve worked on
Currently I am working at IBM as a visual and user experience designer for our Security portfolio. My past projects have spanned a variety of domains including Mobile, B2B, and Watson. Over the past 2 1/2 years at IBM I have had the opportunity to work on both product envisioning and strategy, take part in user research including client site visits, while balancing the day to day creation of design assets. My responsibilities include creating wireframes, user flows, high fidelity mockups and assets to deliver to the development team on an agile sprint schedule.
I have also had the unique opportunity of facilitating workshops geared at teaching the tenants of design thinking to non-designers. Product managers, offering managers, developers, marketers, and sales representatives have all attended these hands on workshops which have become an invaluable resource for fostering team alignment, building user empathy, and generating big ideas.
What I’m looking to do next
I would love to work for a company that puts the user first, is design driven, and values multi-disciplinary collaboration. I'm a problem solver and I'm always open for the next challenge or to learn something new.
