Designing with nature

Designing with Nature investigates biomimicry, a design approach that seeks to mimic the forms, processes, and systems in nature with the intent of creating sustainable solutions to human-made problems. The project proposes that introducing designers to biomimicry principles and examples in nature during the concepting phase of the design process, will inspire solutions that are both innovative and environmentally sensitive.

A deck of Bio-Inspired Brainstorming cards was created that highlight adaptations of 40 species native to the Sonoran Desert. The deck also includes 12 “Life Principles” cards that establish guidelines for approaching biomimetic design

The front of the cards contain photographs of the example species.
